Mysore, a beautiful city in the southern part of India

Mysore is one of the famous cities in India and it is also the second biggest city of Karnataka a state which is situated in the southern part of India. Mysore city is located 146 kilometres away from Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka. Mysore is well known for the festival like Dashera that takes place during the months of October to November and vast numbers of visitors flock together in Mysore at this time of festivities.

Till the year 1947, Mysore was known as the capital, when Wodeyar dynasty was the ruler for Kingdom of Mysore. The Wodeyar family showed great interest for culture and art and they have enormous contribution for developing cultural growth among the inhabitants of Mysore. After Tipu Sultan’s demise in the year 1799, the Mysore Kingdom was handed over by British to their allies while the control of Mysore city was kept under their own control.

After the independence of India in the year 1947, Mysore city was included as a part of the state of Mysore. After the passage of several years, Mysore has gradually been turned in to a tourist destination as there are no other disturbances inside it in the form of political angle or in the way of ethnic activities. In Mysore, the summer season lasts from the month of March to June. The rainy season begins from the month of July and lasts till the end part of November. From the beginning of the December month, winter season starts and continues till the month of February. Some prominent lakes like Lingambudhi, Karanji and Kukkarahalli are situated in Mysore. Kabini and Kaveri are the two rivers which are flowing on the both sides of Mysore. The water of these two rivers is the sources of drinking water for the people of Mysore.
